The UNU Hub on Engineering to Face Climate Change was founded to address critical challenges related to water, soil, and the environment. In line with this mission, this scholarship has been established to tackle environmental issues facing the Global South. In this context, the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics is seeking a researcher in the field of geo-Hydroinformatics and environmental engineering to apply advanced modeling techniques and data-driven tools for developing predictive models to detect and quantify dust storms on a global scale. The successful candidate will leverage Industry 4.0 technologies—including AI approaches, satellite remote sensing, global datasets, and big data analytics—to measure dust storms, develop vulnerability maps, and assess their socio-economic impacts across various scenarios.
Applicants from the Global South are especially encouraged to apply.
