The Institute of Chemical Reaction Engineering at TUHH investigates the dynamic behavior of solid catalysts in catalytic reactors. Catalysts are dynamic systems and change their chemical and geometrical structure, electronic properties, active centers, adsorbates and consequently the reaction kinetics depending on the chemical environment, temperature, pressure and local flow conditions. In order to elucidate the catalyst dynamics and local reaction kinetics and to develop the kinetic models that are central to reactor design, new measurement methods are under developed at the ICRT. The novel tools allow measurements of concentration, temperature and spectroscopy profiles in catalytic reactors. However, the creation of such a kinetic model is time-consuming and technically difficult, as many reactions are complex.
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with interest in heterogeneous catalysis and experience in physical chemistry, expertise in IR spectroscopy and mathematics. Previous experience in one of the above fields is an advantage, but not a requirement, and this project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
