The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering at Hamburg University of Technology focuses its research and teaching on hydraulic engineering, water management and hydrological issues in coastal areas. The effects and consequences of climate change and the resulting social challenges play a particularly important role here.
The PhD-project deals with the analysis of wave-induced forces on structures in coastal hydraulic engineering using numerical simulation methods. The project work focuses on
i) fundamental physical processes,
ii) phase-averaged and phase-resolved numerical process - simulations and
iii) the analysis and evaluation of the resulting forces for selected structures such as dykes, seawalls and bridge structures.
