As part of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, we conduct research on fundamental and applied questions in hydroclimatology, stochastic hydrology, and environmental risk modelling. Our work addresses hydrological extremes, nonstationary climate–water interactions, and spatio-temporal dependence, with emphasis on multiscale hydroclimate processes, compound events, and advanced stochastic simulation. We also develop statistical and probabilistic frameworks for environmental risk assessment, including extreme-value analysis, copula-based modelling, statistical post-processing of climate model outputs, and hazard–impact methods relevant to water agencies, utilities, as well as climate-risk stakeholders.
Within these activities, we seek to fill a full position dedicated to research and teaching. The project focuses on stochastic rainfall generators, non-Gaussian random fields, multiscale hydroclimate models, copula-based dependence modelling, information-theoretic methods, spatio-temporal analysis, and statistical post-processing for environmental risk assessment. The position supports the development of an independent scientific profile and requires dissemination of results at international conferences and participation in teaching.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate in their motivation letter how their background aligns with the proposed research topic.
