For the Institute of  Process Systems Engineering of the Hamburg University of Technology for the earliest possible date, we are lookingf or a:

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (m/f/d) / WISSENSCHAFTLICHER MITARBEITER (m/w/d)

full time and for a maximum of  three years. The remuneration is in accordance with 13 TV-L.

No.: 17223WV4

The Institute of Process Systems Engineering is looking for a new Research Associate for an exciting research project in the field of optimization-based process synthesis. In the project, a novel method for flowsheet synthesis is to be developed in cooperation with the Process dynamics and Operations group at the Technische Universitaet Berlin. Based on thermodynamic and kinetic models, energy-efficient separation processes are to be generated automatically by means of mathematical optimization. The methodology will be an essential tool for the effective design of sustainable production processes with regard to the necessary raw material and energy change.

YOUR TASKS

  • Working on a collaborative third-party funded project with cooperation partners at TU Berlin
  • Development of a novel method for automatic process synthesis of energy-efficient separation processes
  • Technical and economic evaluation of the generated process variants
  • Writing of scientific publications
  • Project management, integration and supervision of student theses

YOUR PROFILE

  • Above-average university degree (Master's degree or comparable) in the field(s) of process engineering, chemical engineering, technomathematics, computational engineering science, or comparable
  • Knowledge in the field of process design, fluid process engineering and thermodynamics
  • Knowledge in the area of programming (e.g. C/C++) and software development
  • Excellent communication skills, high performing and self reliant teamplayer
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of applied optimization (e.g. Python/Pyomo, GAMS) are an advantage

    OUR OFFER

    • Outside of duties, further scientific training is possible, the results can be used for a dissertation (PhD thesis)
    • Collaboration in an interdisciplinary, highly motivated and dedicated team
    • Participation in national & international conferences with presentations and interdisciplinary collaborations
    • Flexible and familyfriendly working conditions
    • Support and creative freedom in the continuation and further development of research topics
