We offer a position for a doctoral student in our group. The research group for theoretical computer science investigates the computational complexity of so-called constraint satisfaction problems and related problems that capture many problems from theory and practice. In this research, efficient algorithms are devised to solve exactly or approximately the problems using methods from algebra and optimization. Such methods are also employed to show that classes of problems are NP-hard to solve exactly or approximately. The research on constraint satisfaction problems also involves other fields of mathematics such as (finite or infinite) model theory, topology, and Ramsey theory.
